Swim Lessons Information
The Newtown Community Center offers a comprehensive swim instruction program designed to support swimmers of all ages and skill levels. Our lessons focus on water safety, confidence-building, and proper stroke development in a supportive, structured environment.
Group Lessons (Ages 3Y - 18Y)
Preschool (Ages 3-5 | Levels 1-3)
Introduce young swimmers to the water and help them develop comfort, independence, and basic swim skills. Early levels focus on water readiness, floating, gliding, and safe recovery skills. Level 3 encourages independent skill performance, coordination, and early stroke development through guided activities.
School-Age (Ages 6-18 | Levels 1-5)
Progressive lessons that build from basic water comfort and safety skills to refined stroke technique and endurance. Swimmers advance through floating, gliding, treading water, and stroke development, with higher levels emphasizing longer distances, deep-water skills, and increased efficiency.
Junior Stroke & Turn (Ages 6Y - 18Y)
Class Length: 45 minutes | Location: Lap Pool
Reviews all strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly) while practicing drills to improve technique and efficiency. Swimmers also work on diving and flip turns. Ideal for swimmers preparing to join a swim team and build confidence in the water.
Private & Semi-Private (Ages 3Y+)
Private Lessons
Personalized, one-on-one instruction tailored to individual goals and skill levels. Each 30-minute session is ideal for children or adults, from beginners learning to swim to advanced swimmers refining technique.
Semi-Private Lessons
Two swimmers at a similar skill level share a 30-minute session. Semi-private lessons provide focused instruction with individual attention while enjoying a shared learning experience.
